The RDS series outdoor disconnector is rated for 550 kV and designed for three-phase AC extra-high-voltage transmission systems. It provides visible isolation for equipment maintenance, performs no-load line switching, and handles bus-transfer current switching in EHV substations.
The disconnector uses a heavy-duty horizontal center-break structure with two insulator columns per phase. Corona control rings are fitted at the contact and terminal ends to suppress corona discharge and limit radio interference. The conductive blade and contact system are designed to maintain a uniform electric field distribution, keeping RIV below 500 µV at the rated voltage.
The SRCJ2 motor actuator provides single-pole operation with three-pole linkage capability. The earthing switch is installed on one or both sides and is manually operated with three-pole synchronization.
EHV corona control design:Corona grading rings at blade tips, contact ends, and terminal connectors suppress electric field stress, limiting RIV to ≤500 µV and preventing audible corona noise, meeting EHV substation environmental requirements
Heavy-duty center-break structure:Reinforced insulator columns and blade assembly sized for 550 kV class loads, with 5,000 N longitudinal terminal load capacity matching heavy strain bus and overhead line connections in EHV yards
Controlled opening speed:Motor actuator opening time of 18 s provides a controlled separation speed that minimizes mechanical shock while ensuring reliable arc extinction at the auxiliary arcing contacts during no-load switching
Integrated switching impulse withstand:Meeting the Range II insulation coordination requirements specific to 550 kV EHV systems where switching surges dominate over lightning
Large creepage distance options:Standard creepage oavailable, accommodating heavy salt-fog and industrial pollution common in coastal EHV substation environments
Single-pole operational flexibility :Independent SRCJ2 actuator per phase allows phase-selective isolation, enabling maintenance on one phase while the remaining two phases remain energized with reduced system capacity
