The insulation materials commonly used in transformer primary winding are as follows:

Enamel wire insulating paint

Enamelled wire is made by coating conductors such as copper wire with a layer of insulating paint. This insulating paint usually has good electrical insulation properties, heat resistance and chemical corrosion resistance. It can effectively isolate the conductor of the primary winding from other parts, preventing short circuit and leakage. For example, polyurethane wire insulating paint, with good wear resistance and solvent resistance, is suitable for transformer windings in various working environments.

Insulating paper

Usually used are cable paper, wrinkle paper and so on. Insulating paper has high mechanical strength and electrical insulation properties, and can be used for interlayer insulation and ground insulation of windings. For example, in transformer windings, cable paper is often used to wrap conductors to increase insulation strength and prevent partial discharge. Corrugated paper, because of its good flexibility and compressibility, is often used to fill the gap between the windings and play a fixed and insulating role.

Insulating film

Such as polyester film, polyimide film and so on. These films have extremely thin thickness and excellent insulation properties, and can be used for interturn insulation of winding. Polyester film has good temperature resistance and mechanical properties, and is widely used in transformers of lower voltage levels. Polyimide film has higher heat resistance and electrical strength, suitable for high temperature, high voltage transformer environment.

Insulating paint

In addition to the enamelled wire, the entire winding of the transformer may also be impregnated with insulating paint after winding. This insulating paint can penetrate into all parts of the winding, enhance the insulation performance, and also play a fixed winding, moisture-proof, mildew proof and other functions. For example, epoxy resin insulating paint has good adhesion and corrosion resistance, and can provide reliable insulation protection for transformer windings.

Hi everyone, I’m Felix, and I’ve been working in electrical equipment fault repair for 15 years.Over these years, I’ve traveled across factories, substations, and distribution rooms all over the country, troubleshooting and repairing all kinds of electrical equipment. Dry-type transformers are among the most common devices we deal with.Today, a friend asked me:“What does it mean when the low-voltage side of a dry-type transformer has low insulation resistance?”Great

What tests are required for dry-type transformers?
What tests are required for dry-type transformers?
1 Pre - commissioning InspectionAs a front - line tester, before formally commissioning a dry - type transformer, I need to carry out a comprehensive and systematic inspection. First, I conduct a visual inspection of the transformer body and its accessories, carefully checking for mechanical damage or deformation. Then, I check whether the leads of the high - and low - voltage windings are firmly connected and whether the bolt tightening torque meets the standard requirements (usually 40 - 60N&m
