Document description

This document describes dead‑tank SF6 circuit‑breaker complying with IEC 62271‑100:2021 and IEEE Std C37.09 circuit‑breaker standards as well as IEC 60068‑2‑series environmental test requirements. It adopts earthed aluminium‑alloy tank with compression‑type arc‑extinguishing principle and proven modular hydraulic‑spring operating mechanism fitted with mechanical anti‑slow‑opening protection.

Pollution‑resistant silicone‑rubber composite bushings are adopted. Through‑core current transformers are integrated inside tank, and external CT can be added as required. Secondary control, monitoring, heating & dehumidification functions are centralized in local control cabinet, supporting local/remote mode switching, SF6 density monitoring, alarm and low‑pressure interlock protection.

The manual covers structural principle, unpacking, hoisting, on‑site installation, gas‑filling and commissioning procedures, specifying bolt torque, SF6 handling and adsorbent replacement rules. It also provides periodic inspection criteria, minor‑repair / overhaul trigger conditions, troubleshooting, transportation‑storage and decommissioning recycling guidance.

Safety risks and countermeasures for hoisting, gas‑handling and secondary‑circuit work are clearly documented, delivering comprehensive technical reference for design, construction and O&M in large‑scale substations and hydropower plants.

Frequently asked questions

Three overhaul triggers: 10‑year service time; 10 000 mechanical operations; 20 full‑capacity short‑circuit interruptions. Overhaul requires gas‑chamber disassembly, adsorbent and seal replacement plus professional gas‑recovery work. Manufacturer on‑site support is highly recommended. Minor maintenance can follow site internal procedures.

Store in dry, ventilated rain‑proof shelter and elevate equipment to avoid water immersion. Remove plastic wrapping to prevent condensation and white‑rust formation. Do not stack heavy loads on bushings or gas‑filled assemblies. Tank is pre‑filled with low‑pressure nitrogen from factory; gas‑chamber covers must remain sealed during storage. Hoisting shall strictly follow manual lifting‑point instructions.

Density relay features temperature compensation. At alarm threshold, gas‑refill reminder is triggered while breaker can still operate normally. When pressure drops further to lock‑out setpoint, both opening and closing circuits are cut off. No breaker operation is permitted. Leak troubleshooting and qualified SF6 refilling are mandatory.

The hydraulic‑spring mechanism combines disc‑spring energy storage with hydraulic drive, divided into five modular sections. Opening/closing speed can be smoothly adjusted via throttle orifices, with dual‑layer mechanical anti‑slow‑opening protection and low temperature sensitivity. Oil‑sealing condition shall be inspected periodically. It is well‑suited for high‑voltage high‑capacity breakers.
