VS1 - Type Indoor High - Voltage Vacuum Circuit Breaker
The VS1 - type indoor high - voltage vacuum circuit breaker is an indoor device for three - phase AC 50Hz with a rated voltage of 12kV. It is used for the control and protection of electrical facilities in industrial and mining enterprises, power plants, and substations. The circuit breaker arranges the main circuit and the operating mechanism on a special - shaped frame in a front - rear manner, that is, an integral layout. This structural design can make the operating performance of the operating mechanism more consistent with the performance required for the opening and closing of the arc - extinguishing chamber, reduce unnecessary intermediate transmission links, lower energy consumption and noise, and make the operating performance of the circuit breaker more reliable. Users can directly put it into operation without adjustment.
1. Operational Technical Requirements
The circuit breaker can realize manual energy storage, manual closing, and manual opening. Generally, the manual operation function is only used during the no - load commissioning and inspection of the circuit breaker. Before manual operation, it should be confirmed that the circuit breaker is in the open position, the secondary power plug should be pulled out, and the control power supply should be disconnected. The manual operation function has special usage regulations under special circumstances.
  • The manual energy storage operation function can be used in special circumstances where there is no power in the secondary circuit of the circuit breaker.
  • The manual opening operation function can provide the operator with direct opening operation of the circuit breaker in case of emergency needs.
  • The manual closing operation function can only be used when the main circuit of the circuit breaker is not live. As long as the main circuit of the circuit breaker is live, the manual closing operation is absolutely not allowed.
1.1 Electric Energy Storage Operation
After the circuit breaker is in the working state (regardless of whether the main circuit of the circuit breaker is live or not), the electrical circuit of the energy storage motor is in the working state. The energy storage motor will be automatically powered on to perform the energy storage operation of the closing spring. After the closing spring is fully energy - stored, the energy storage position switch inside the circuit breaker will automatically cut off the electrical circuit of the energy storage motor. When the circuit breaker is used in a withdrawable switchgear, the circuit breaker handcart is equipped with corresponding interlocks.
When the circuit breaker handcart moves from the test position to the working position or from the working position to the test position, the closing spring must not be released. During the movement, the closing circuit is cut off, the closing shaft is mechanically interlocked and locked, and the manual closing fails. After moving in place, the energy storage circuit and the closing circuit are conducted, and the mechanical interlock of the closing shaft is released. When the circuit breaker is in the closed state, the circuit breaker handcart cannot be moved.
1.2 Electric Closing Operation
The operator can operate the electrical contacts (such as electrical buttons, closing contactors, etc.) connected to the closing circuit of the circuit breaker to connect the coil of the closing electromagnet of the circuit breaker and complete the closing operation. There are electrical interlocks between the electrical circuit of the closing electromagnet coil and the state of the energy storage spring inside the circuit breaker, and between the circuit of the closing electromagnet coil and the state of the main contacts of the circuit breaker. If the energy storage spring is not fully energy - stored or the circuit breaker is already in the closed state, the energy storage travel switch and the auxiliary switch inside the circuit breaker will disconnect the electrical circuit of the closing electromagnet coil. Regardless of whether an external closing signal is given or not, the circuit breaker will not be able to perform the closing operation.
1.3 Electric Opening Operation
The circuit breaker can provide the operator with 2 types of electric opening methods: electric opening by the opening electromagnet powered by an independent power supply and electric opening by the over - current release.
Electric opening by the opening electromagnet powered by an independent power supply. The operator can operate the electrical contacts (such as electrical buttons, closing contactors, etc.) in the opening circuit of the coil of the opening electromagnet powered by an independent power supply connected to the circuit breaker to connect the coil of the opening electromagnet powered by an independent power supply of the circuit breaker and complete the opening operation.
Electric opening by the over - current release. The over - current release coil of the circuit breaker is connected to the electrical circuit connected to the secondary side of the current transformer. When the circuit breaker works normally, the over - current release coil is short - circuited by the normally closed contact of the over - current relay (or equivalent protection device) connected to this electrical circuit, and the current of the secondary circuit of the current transformer does not flow through the over - current release coil. When a fault occurs in the main circuit, the over - current relay acts, the normally closed contact opens, and the current in the secondary circuit of the current transformer will flow through the over - current release coil, driving the over - current release to act and complete the opening operation of the circuit breaker.
2. Operation and Maintenance of the Circuit Breaker
  • Daily Maintenance and Inspection :After the circuit breaker is put into operation, regular inspections should be carried out in accordance with relevant operation specifications. The inspection should be carried out when the main circuit of the circuit breaker is not live.
  • Cleaning Maintenance Management :The circuit breaker after being put into operation should be cleaned regularly to keep the surfaces of insulating parts and conductive parts clean. The cleaning should be carried out when both the main and auxiliary circuits of the circuit breaker are not live.
  • Lubrication and Maintenance:Regular lubrication should be carried out on relevant parts of the circuit breaker. The lubrication should be carried out when both the main and auxiliary circuits of the circuit breaker are not live. The lubrication and maintenance parts include each rotating part of the circuit breaker including the operating mechanism; the transmission parts related to the installation part of the circuit breaker (for example, when the circuit breaker is used in a withdrawable switchgear, the transmission part of the interlock between the circuit breaker and the switchgear). When the circuit breaker is used in a withdrawable switchgear, the contact part of the isolation plug of the circuit breaker should be cleaned regularly and coated with new Vaseline oil.
3. Conclusion
Before the VS1 - type circuit breaker is put into operation, the rated voltage or current of each operating element should be carefully checked to see if it matches the actual situation. And the energy storage of the mechanism should be used to realize the trial operation of the closing and opening methods to check whether each index is normal. During the use of the circuit breaker, the vacuum degree of the vacuum arc - extinguishing chamber should be regularly checked by the power - frequency withstand voltage method. Open the circuit breaker, and apply a power - frequency voltage of 42kV between the breaks of the arc - extinguishing chamber for 1 minute at the same time. If continuous breakdown is found in the arc - extinguishing chamber, the vacuum arc - extinguishing chamber should be replaced.

Considerations and Recommendations for Flame-Retardant Selection of High-Voltage Cables
1.Flame-Retardant Cable Classification StandardsThe flame-retardant standard system is divided into two main categories. The first category follows the "Classification of Burning Behavior for Electric and Optical Fiber Cables" GB 31247. Cables complying with this standard system are widely used in densely populated areas such as high-speed railways and subways. This standard imposes strict requirements on parameters such as smoke density, heat release, and total smoke production, and cables typi

Must DC circuit breakers always be bipolar?
For a 24V switch-mode power supply branch, I used a single-pole DC circuit breaker, with the negative pole subjected to equipotential bonding (previously, I even directly used AC breakers as substitutes—the main difference being arc-extinguishing performance, but how significant can the arc be in a few-amp low-current short circuit?).During a design review, an expert stated that DC circuit breakers must be bipolar, arguing that DC has positive and negative poles, unlike AC!I'm puzzled—where is t

What Should Be Noted During the Installation Process of Indoor Load Switches?
The installation quality of indoor load switches directly affects their operational safety and service life. It must be carried out focusing on four core principles: "safety protection, standardized wiring, mechanical compatibility, and insulation assurance." Specific precautions are as follows:1.Basic Preparation and Safety Protection Before Installation: Verify that the switch model and specifications (e.g., rated voltage, current) match the actual power distribution requirements to avoid "usi
