Overview

The HVR-63 generator circuit-breaker (GCB) is the latest generation of well-proven HGI generator circuit-breaker series and it is best suited for retrofit in power plants with a unit power of up to 180 MW. The open design and small footprint make it perfect for systems with open busbar and short-circuit ratings up to 63 kA. Our innovative built-in direct contact ablation display offers the highest degree of safety and reliability for power plants with frequent switching operations such as pumped storage power plants. The HVR generator circuitbreaker is available as HVR-63XS with rated continuous currents up to 6300 A or as HVR-63S with rated continuous currents up to 8000 A. Both variants offer flexible busbar connection. With this new HVR-63 GCB, continues to lead the way in designing the most advanced GCBs.

Hydraulic spring operating mechanism

Advanced operating system delivers stability and dependability The hydraulic spring operating mechanism combines the advantages of a hydraulic operating mechanism with those of spring energy storage system. Energy storage is accomplished with the aid of a disk spring assembly, with the advantages of stability, reliability and resistance to temperature variability. Tripping of the operating mechanism and energy output arebased on proven design elements of the hydraulic operating technique, such as control valves and hydraulic cylinders. The operating mechanism is based on the differential piston principle. For the closing operation the piston head side is isolated from the low pressure and simultaneously connected to the high pressure oil volume. As long as the pressure is maintained, the piston remains in the “closed” position. A pressure controlled mechanical interlock prevents movement of the piston to the “open” position in case of a pressure drop. For the opening operation, the piston head side is isolated from the high pressure and simultaneously connected to the low pressure oil volume. The charging state of the spring disk assembly is controlled by switching elements, actuating the pump motor to immediately maintain the oil pressure. A non-return valve between pump and high-pressure oil volume prevents pressure loss in the event of a pump outage. The hydraulic system is hermetically sealed against atmosphere. The mechanically operated position indicator provides reliable indication of the circuit-breaker position. The drive operates all three circuit-breaker poles simultaneously by mechanical linkages, thus keeping the switching time difference between the poles to a minimum.

How does a transformer work?
How does a transformer work?
Transformer Operation PrincipleA transformer is an electrical device that operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction to transfer electrical energy from one circuit to another. It enables the adjustment of voltage levels within an alternating current (AC) system, either stepping up (increasing) or stepping down (decreasing) voltage while maintaining the same frequency.Working Principle:Basic ComponentsA transformer consists of two coils, known as windings—the "primary winding" connect

Constant testing of high-voltage cable lines
Constant testing of high-voltage cable lines
1. Definition of High-Voltage Cable Line Constant TestingHigh-voltage cable line constant testing refers to the systematic measurement, using specialized instruments, of electrical parameters such as resistance, inductance, capacitance, and conductance before a cable line is commissioned or after major maintenance. The aim is to obtain fundamental data characterizing the electromagnetic properties of the cable, serving as a critical testing phase that provides accurate parameter support for powe

Technical Analysis of 220 kV High-Voltage Cable Construction in Winter
1.Work Environment Requirements and Safeguard MeasuresBased on technical requirements for cable equipment storage, laying, transportation, laying, transposition, testing, and cable terminations, the project owner and construction units have conducted extensive trials and implemented protective measures regarding ambient temperature, humidity, bending radius, traction control, and route optimization. These measures ensure high-voltage cable quality and on-site safety under harsh winter conditions

Withstand voltage test of high-voltage cables
Withstand voltage test of high-voltage cables
Withstand voltage test is an insulation test, but it is a destructive test that can reveal insulation defects difficult to detect in non-destructive testing. The test cycle for high-voltage cables is three years, and it must be conducted after non-destructive tests. In other words, the withstand voltage test is performed only after all non-destructive tests have been passed. Most high-voltage cables used today are cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables, which can have large cross-sections and cov

Analysis of Abnormal Causes of High-Voltage Cable Grounding Circulation and Typical Cases
I. Introduction to Cable Grounding Loop CurrentCables rated 110 kV and above use a single-core structure. The alternating magnetic field generated by the operating current induces a voltage on the metallic sheath. If the sheath forms a closed circuit through the earth, a grounding loop current will flow on the metallic sheath. Excessive grounding loop current (loop current exceeding 50 A, more than 20% of the load current, or a ratio of maximum-to-minimum phase current greater than 3) not only a

Considerations and Recommendations for Flame-Retardant Selection of High-Voltage Cables
Considerations and Recommendations for Flame-Retardant Selection of High-Voltage Cables
1.Flame-Retardant Cable Classification StandardsThe flame-retardant standard system is divided into two main categories. The first category follows the "Classification of Burning Behavior for Electric and Optical Fiber Cables" GB 31247. Cables complying with this standard system are widely used in densely populated areas such as high-speed railways and subways. This standard imposes strict requirements on parameters such as smoke density, heat release, and total smoke production, and cables typi
