Document description

This document describes pole‑mounted recloser controller complying with IEC 60255‑26, IEC 60255‑27 for measuring relays including general requirements, EMC and product safety, as well as IEC 60068‑2 and IEC 60068‑2 environmental test standards.

It integrates phase overcurrent, earth‑fault, sensitive earth‑fault, undervoltage, under‑frequency and broken‑wire protection, supporting multiple IEC & US inverse‑time curves. Functions include cold‑load pickup, fault zone sequence coordination, automatic loop‑network back‑feed restoration and synchronism check closing.

Local LCD‑keypad HMI is provided, with RS485/Ethernet interfaces supporting IEC60870‑5, DNP3.0 and Modbus‑RTU. Non‑volatile memory saves trip, alarm and SOE sequence‑of‑events data without power‑dependent backup. It applies to radial and loop‑type overhead distribution automation.

Frequently asked questions

The Rockwill standard smart recloser offers high precision with a wide measuring range (2A–16,000A). Simply ensure your normal current is within this standard range when making a selection.

Yes. In addition to the standard 2A–16,000A range, Rockwell Energy provides custom-configured units for ultra-low current measurement and protection in the 0.1A–2A range.

Four independent setting groups are available. Automatic group switching can be scheduled by season, workday or holiday for different network conditions. Each group contains two sets of parameters for positive/reverse source directions for loop‑network operation.

It is used for loop tie‑switch or dual‑source paralleling scenarios. Closing command is allowed only when amplitude, phase‑angle and slip‑frequency on both sides meet configured thresholds, to prevent system shock caused by asynchronous closing. Reliable voltage sampling signals on both sides must be connected.

It is compatible with spring‑mechanism and magnetic‑actuator breakers including vacuum, oil and gas types. Trip/close pulse width is software configurable, supporting both AC and DC operating circuits. Coil voltage of mechanism shall be checked to match controller output before commissioning.

Flash non‑volatile memory preserves all records after power‑off. It stores trip records, alarm records and millisecond‑time‑stamped SOE sequence‑of‑events. Oldest entries will be overwritten once buffer is full. Records support local view, export and manual clearing.
