Document description

This document describes pole‑mounted recloser controller complying with IEC 60255‑1:2022, IEC 60255‑26:2023, IEC 60255‑27:2023, with mechanical tests IEC 60255‑21‑1/2/3 and climatic tests IEC 60068‑2‑1/2, IEC 60068‑2‑78. It integrates phase overcurrent, earth‑fault, sensitive earth‑fault, negative‑sequence, frequency, synchronism‑check, cold‑load pickup and SOTF protection.

Time‑scheduled setting‑group auto‑switching and upstream‑downstream sequence‑coordination logic are available. Local LCD‑keypad HMI with optional RF remote controller. RS485/Ethernet interfaces support IEC60870‑5‑101/104, DNP3.0 and Modbus‑RTU.

Non‑volatile flash memory retains fault, SOE, energy and operation‑counter data after power loss. It applies to overhead‑distribution automation, loop‑networks and distributed‑generation interconnection.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. In addition to the standard 2A–16,000A range, Rockwell Energy provides custom-configured units for ultra-low current measurement and protection in the 0.1A–2A range.

The Rockwill standard smart recloser offers high precision with a wide measuring range (2A–16,000A). Simply ensure your normal current is within this standard range when making a selection.

Enable for long‑time‑de‑energized feeders. It temporarily raises protection thresholds on switch‑on to avoid nuisance tripping from transformer/motor inrush, and restores normal thresholds after configurable recovery timer. Settings shall match site inrush‑current characteristics.

Supported protocols: IEC60870‑5‑101/104, DNP3.0, Modbus‑RTU. RS485 is single‑master, while Ethernet RJ45 supports multiple‑master connections. Ethernet port is recommended for multi‑master scenarios.

Data are saved in non‑volatile flash and retained without auxiliary power. Oldest records will be automatically overwritten when buffer is full. Local viewing and password‑protected manual clearing are supported.

It coordinates multi‑level reclosers. When downstream device trips, upstream unit advances shot‑counter without waiting for its own protection timer, preventing unwanted upstream tripping. Both upstream & downstream devices shall enable and configure this feature.
