I. Establishing an Inspection System

Electrical equipment safety and stable operation are critical under summer high-temperature conditions. To ensure the reliability and safety of electrical systems, enterprises and institutions must establish and improve a regular inspection system for electrical equipment. This system should clearly stipulate:

  • Daily Patrols: Key facilities such as high-voltage distribution equipment, transformers, and low-voltage distribution equipment must be comprehensively inspected at least once daily, focusing on operational status, unusual sounds, odors, and any abnormal phenomena.
  • Regular Inspections: Specialized inspections and tests should be conducted monthly or quarterly to evaluate equipment performance.
  • Annual Maintenance: A comprehensive overhaul and maintenance should be organized annually or biennially to eliminate potential hazards.

II. Conducting Preventive Testing

Before the onset of the high-temperature season, preventive testing of high-voltage equipment must be carried out. This testing helps identify and address equipment that fails to meet technical requirements or poses safety hazards, ensuring all equipment can operate safely and stably under high-temperature and high-load conditions. Simultaneously, grounding protection and lightning protection systems for electrical equipment must be thoroughly inspected and improved to ensure their effectiveness.

III. Preventing Overload and Overheating

During high-temperature operation, special attention must be paid to overload and overheating issues in electrical equipment. Elevated ambient temperatures significantly reduce equipment heat dissipation efficiency, making transformers, switchgear, and other equipment highly susceptible to overheating and even burnout under overload conditions. Therefore, effective measures, such as enhancing ventilation and adding cooling devices, must be implemented to promptly cool down equipment and ensure its normal operation within rated load limits.

IV. Strengthening Moisture & Dust Protection and Personnel Safety

  • Equipment Protection: Pay attention to internal moisture and dust protection for electrical equipment. Moisture and dust accumulation can degrade insulation performance, increasing the risk of breakdown and leakage. Regularly clean dust from both internal and external parts of equipment and maintain dryness.
  • Personnel Safety: When performing live-line work or operating equipment during high-temperature seasons, maintenance and operating personnel must wear prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE), including long-sleeved workwear and insulating shoes, and use safety tools and equipment that have been tested and certified. Strict adherence to safety operating procedures is mandatory to prevent violations and ensure personal safety.
