Zero GWP RMU
zero GWP switchgear
A ring main unit whose insulation medium has a global warming potential of zero. No SF6, no fluorinated gas — just pure/dry air or solid insulation, paired with vacuum interruption, for 12–24kV distribution.

Global Warming Potential (GWP) measures how much heat a gas traps compared to CO2. SF6 has a GWP of around 23,500 — meaning each kilogram leaked equals thousands of kilograms of CO2. A zero GWP RMU contains no gas with any climate warming potential, so over its entire life there is effectively nothing to leak into the atmosphere.
The tank holds conditioned dry air — breathable, harmless, and with a GWP of zero by definition.
Epoxy/resin encapsulated live parts carry no gas at all — a GWP-free alternative for compact or harsh sites.
Current breaking is handled by sealed vacuum interrupters — independent of the insulation medium and proven over decades.

No fluorinated gas means no phase-out exposure, no quarterly gas reporting and no recovery obligation at end of life.
You can truthfully report zero CO2-equivalent leakage from the switchgear — not just a lower number, but zero.
Air does not displace oxygen. No asphyxiation risk in cable pits, no specialized gas-handling for installers.
No gas-density top-ups, no gas recovery disposal fees — just sealed vacuum parts and air-pressure monitoring.
12–24kV class, 20kA/3s typical, IEC 62271 tested. Going zero-GWP is not a compromise on ratings.
Many utility and green-project tenders now require zero-GWP equipment — this RMU meets that criterion directly.

It is a factual claim about the insulation medium. Because the RMU uses dry air or solid dielectric — not SF6 or any fluorinated gas — there is no gas with a non-zero GWP inside the equipment, so climate-warming leakage from the switchgear is zero.
Conditioned dry air or solid epoxy provides phase-to-earth insulation, and a sealed vacuum interrupter handles current breaking. Together they meet the same IEC 62271 class ratings as SF6 gear.
Yes. Zero-GWP and SF6-free are exactly the criteria many utility and renewable tenders now require; we supply the test reports and declaration to support your bid.
