Description
The RHB-550 SF6 circuit breaker uses SF6 gas as the insulating and arc-extinguishing medium. Its interrupter employs a single-break variable-gap configuration, designed to carry rated current, interrupt fault currents, perform line switching, and provide control and protection for transmission lines. It is equipped with a CYT hydraulic operating mechanism for opening, closing, and automatic reclosing operations. Two variants are available: with or without a closing resistor for overvoltage suppression.

Main Features

  • High insulation level and excellent breaking performance.
  • Equipped with independently developed CYT hydraulic mechanism; all hydraulic pipelines are internally routed, eliminating leakage risk and ensuring mechanical reliability.
  • Uses imported control valves with stable performance and anti-slow-opening function in the event of pressure loss.
  • Component parts are highly interchangeable with other products in the company's range, supported by mature manufacturing technology and easy on-site maintenance.

Application Scenarios

The RHB-550 is designed for 500 kV / 550 kV transmission systems and is suitable for the following applications:

  • Transmission main grid nodes: Switching and protection of 500 kV backbone transmission lines in national and regional power grids.
  • Large hub substations: Incoming and outgoing line control in 500 kV substations, tie-line switching, and bus coupler applications.
  • Interconnection of regional power grids: High-voltage interconnection points between provincial and regional grids requiring reliable fault interruption and synchronizing capability.
  • Power plant step-up substations: Generator and transmission line protection in large thermal, hydro, nuclear, and renewable energy power plants at the 500 kV voltage level.
  • Heavy industrial power supply: Power supply for large-scale industrial complexes such as steel mills, petrochemical plants, and mining operations with high short-circuit capacity requirements.
  • Cross-border interconnection projects: Transmission line switching in international interconnection projects adopting IEC standards.

Frequently asked questions

live tank circuit breaker is a structural form of high-voltage circuit breaker, which is characterized by the use of ceramic insulation pillars to support key components such as arc extinguishing chamber and operating mechanism. The arc extinguishing chamber is usually arranged on the top or pillar of the ceramic pillar. It is mainly suitable for medium and high voltage power systems, with voltage levels covering the range of 72.5 kV to 1100 kV. live tank circuit breakers are common control and protection equipment in outdoor distribution devices such as 110 kV, 220 kV, 550 kV, and 800 kV substations.

In a live tank breaker, the arc chamber is mounted at the top or side of the column, exposed to ambient air. In a dead tank breaker, the arc chamber is placed inside the metal tank, fully sealed.
