The RHP type HGIS electrical apparatus is a new type of high-voltage power equipment. It retains the advantages of GIS combined electrical apparatus, such as compactness, high reliability, and low operation and maintenance requirements, while innovatively retaining the busbar as a conventional AIS arrangement for onsite installation and connection.
This design effectively overcomes the drawbacks associated with traditional AIS equipment, including large footprint, numerous connection points, and high inspection and maintenance workloads.
It is suitable for 40.5kV up to 245kV transmission and distribution systems in power plants, substations, railway stations, ports, and large industrial and mining enterprises. It is particularly well-suited for spaceconstrained projects such as mountainous substations and urban substations, and can be installed indoors, outdoors, or on rooftops.
HGIS is a type of gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear that integrates the circuit breaker, disconnector/earthing switch combination, current transformer, and voltage transformer into a single unit.
This specific design confers the following key advantages over both conventional GIS and AIS:
High Operational Reliability & Minimal Maintenance: Requires very little maintenance, with an estimated maintenance-free service life of up to 25 years.
Simplified Outdoor Installation: Designed for direct outdoor installation with minimal civil engineering and electrical work, leading to a straightforward installation process.
Eco-Friendly with Low SF6 Usage: Consumes significantly less SF6 gas (only 20% of the amount used in a full GIS), making it a more environmentally friendly choice.
Low Life-Cycle Cost: Offers a lower total cost of ownership over its entire operational lifespan.
Compact, Lightweight & Resilient Design: Features a compact and lightweight construction (utilizing silicone rubber bushings and aluminum tanks) with excellent pollution resistance, hydrophobic properties, and high seismic withstand capability.
Rapid Deployment with Minimal Outage: The short installation time and reduced number of required power outages make it exceptionally well-suited for extension or retrofit projects in power plants and substations.

An HGIS unit is equipped with one three-position disconnector/earthing switch at each end of the circuit breaker. This configuration forms an independent, self-contained functional unit that operates without the need for any additional external three-position disconnector/earthing switches.
The HGIS employs a modular design philosophy. It can be customized with varying numbers of three-position disconnector/earthing switch modules to meet specific client requirements. Additionally, optional components such as voltage transformers (VTs) and surge arresters can be integrated.

RHP HGIS integrates circuit breaker, three‑position disconnector‑earthing switch, CT/VT into gas‑filled tank units, while retaining conventional open‑type AIS busbars for on‑site connection. Compared with full GIS, it consumes only 20% SF₆ gas, lowers equipment investment. Compared with conventional AIS, it greatly reduces footprint, connection points and maintenance workload. It balances compactness, cost and installation flexibility.
The modular gas‑tank main units feature high reliability with up to 25‑year maintenance‑free service life. Annual SF₆ leakage rate ≤0.5%. Mechanical life reaches 6000 times. Only open‑type busbar part needs regular inspection. Overall maintenance workload is far lower than traditional AIS.
