Recently, Chinese GIS manufacturers announced exciting news: the first ZF11C-252(L) mixed-gas double-break GIS product developed by a Chinese GIS manufacturer successfully passed its on-site power frequency withstand voltage test on the first attempt at a project site. This achievement marks another milestone for Chinese GIS manufacturers in advancing green and high-quality development of power grids.
The ZF11C-252(L) mixed-gas double-break GIS that passed the test represents the culmination of technological innovation by Chinese GIS manufacturers. Through a carefully optimized mixed-gas formulation, this product significantly reduces the use of SF₆ gas, effectively lowering greenhouse gas emissions and demonstrating the manufacturer’s strong commitment to environmental responsibility. To ensure stable gas characteristics and enhanced insulation strength, the R&D team conducted extensive research and rigorous experimental validation on key parameters of the mixed gas, guaranteeing the product’s outstanding performance and broad applicability.

Notably, the double-break disconnector design of this product is an innovative response to the latest requirements from State Grid Corporation of China and China Southern Power Grid Company. This design not only enables GIS expansion and testing without interrupting the operation of existing equipment (Phase I), but also substantially improves equipment reliability and safety. The 252 kV double-break disconnector features a rated current of up to 4,000 A and a rated short-time withstand current of 50 kA, while occupying the same footprint as conventional bays—ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and providing robust support for grid upgrades.

The successful first-attempt completion of the on-site withstand voltage test is a powerful testament to the technical capabilities of Chinese GIS manufacturers and signifies a major breakthrough in mixed-gas applications and double-break disconnector technology. This achievement not only enriches the manufacturer’s GIS product portfolio and strengthens its competitiveness in the high-voltage switchgear market, but also makes a significant contribution to the development of China’s new-type power system.
Looking ahead, Chinese GIS manufacturers will continue to uphold their commitment to technological innovation, focusing on the green and low-carbon transformation of high-voltage switching products and continuously enhancing their core competitiveness.
