What is a Cylindrical Capacitor?

Cylindrical capacitor definition

A cylindrical capacitor is defined as a capacitor with a central conductor, an insulating layer, and an externally grounded metal cover.

Basic structure of cylindrical capacitor

It is generally composed of two metal electrodes, an insulating medium and a shell.

Working principle of cylindrical capacitor

The property of a capacitor to store electrical energy. When the capacitor is connected to the power supply circuit, ‌ after the charging process, the ‌ capacitor will store charge and ‌ form an electric field. ‌ When the circuit needs to release the stored electric energy, the ‌ capacitor will provide additional charge to the circuit, ‌ to realize the cyclic transfer of electric energy.

Cylindrical capacitor operating characteristics

  • Compact structure : ‌ Adopts cylindrical design, ‌ occupies small space, ‌ is convenient to install and arrange. ‌

  • High voltage resistance : ‌ Aas good insulation and high voltage resistance, ‌ can withstand high voltage working environment. ‌

  • Low loss : ‌ Internal use of low loss materials, ‌ can reduce energy loss, ‌ improve the efficiency of the system. ‌

  • Long life : ‌ Design carefully optimized, ‌ long service life, ‌ can be stable and reliable operation. ‌

Advantages of cylindrical capacitor

  • High power density : Can provide higher power density, ‌ is suitable for higher power density requirements of the power system. ‌

  • Fast response : Fast response speed, ‌ can quickly compensate the reactive power in the system, ‌ and harmonic correction, ‌ improve the stability and reliability of the system. ‌

  • Broadband characteristics : Has a wide frequency band characteristics, ‌ can adapt to a variety of frequencies under the compensation and correction needs. ‌

  • Environment friendly : Using lead-free welding and environmental protection materials, ‌ in line with environmental requirements, ‌ no pollution to the environment. ‌

Cylindrical capacitor defect

  • Smaller cooling surface : Compared with the rectangular body of the same volume, the cooling surface of the ‌ cylinder is smaller, and the cooling speed of ‌ is slower. ‌

  • Force state : Compared with the rectangular body, ‌ is more likely to crack at the pressure joint during operation and use, and ‌ will cause oil leakage. ‌

Cylindrical capacitor application

  • Reactive power compensation : Compensates the reactive power in the power system, ‌ improves the power factor of the system, ‌ reduces the loss of the grid. ‌

  • Harmonic correction : Corrects the harmonics in the power system, ‌ improves the power quality of the system, ‌ reduces the influence of harmonics on other electrical equipment.

 ‌

  • High voltage stability : Has good voltage stability, ‌ can provide stable voltage output, ‌ protect the normal operation of power equipment.

  • Energy saving and emission reduction : ‌By improving the efficiency of the power system, ‌ to reduce the ineffective power, ‌ to achieve the effect of energy saving and emission reduction, ‌ has good economic and environmental benefits. ‌

What is a Pure Capacitor Circuit?
What is a Pure Capacitor Circuit?
Pure Capacitor CircuitA circuit comprising only a pure capacitor with capacitanceC(measured in farads) is termed a Pure Capacitor Circuit. Capacitors store electrical energy within an electric field, a characteristic known ascapacitance(alternatively referred to as a "condenser"). Structurally, a capacitor consists of two conductive plates separated by a dielectric medium—common dielectric materials include glass, paper, mica, and oxide layers. In an ideal AC capacitor circuit, the current

What is a fixed capacitance?
What is a fixed capacitance?
1. DefinitionWhat is commonly referred to as a "permanent capacitor" is likely a popular term. Strictly speaking, it may refer to a fixed capacitor. A fixed capacitor is a type of capacitor with a constant capacitance value. In a circuit, its capacitance will not change due to normal voltage, current variations, or other common external conditions. Its main functions include storing electrical energy, filtering, coupling, and bypassing.2. Structure and PrincipleStructureTake the common ceramic c
