How are ground resistance and soil resistivity measured?

Ground Resistance Measurement:

  • Four-Terminal Method: The UT572 typically uses the four-terminal method (also known as the Kelvin method) for ground resistance measurement. This approach involves two auxiliary electrodes (auxiliary current electrode and auxiliary voltage electrode) and a ground electrode under test for the measurement.

  • Current Injection: The tester injects a certain frequency current into the ground through the auxiliary current electrode.

  • Voltage Measurement: The voltage drop caused by the current is measured through the auxiliary voltage electrode.

  • Resistance Calculation: The ground resistance value is calculated based on the measured current and voltage drop.

Soil Resistivity Measurement:

  • Four-Terminal Method: The four-terminal method is also employed, which involves four electrodes (two current electrodes and two voltage electrodes) to measure the soil resistivity.

  • Current Injection: Current is injected into the soil through the current electrodes.

  • Voltage Measurement: The voltage drop caused by the current is measured through the voltage electrodes.

  • Resistivity Calculation: The soil resistivity is calculated based on the measured current and voltage drop.

Analysis of Issues and Causes in Smart Meter Testing
1. Issues and Cause Analysis in Smart Electricity Meter TestingDuring the verification of smart electricity meters, inspections must be conducted on the meter’s appearance, as well as the clarity and integrity of nameplate markings. Additionally, careful checks are required for physical damage and whether the display can show digits completely. A power-on inspection is also necessary. If error codes appear on the display after power-up, faults should be identified and addressed according to the
